A Look Back At Napoleon Dynamite
This quirky, quotable, film kind of caught lightning in a bottle in 2004. It’s both simple and strange. It’s also one of the rare comedies that I still find myself laughing at throughout, even though I’ve seen it multiple times.
Jon Heder plays Napoleon Dynamite, an awkward teenager in a film thats dialog is built on deadpan delivery, long sighs, and awkward pauses… Somehow this ends up being more entertaining and charming then you’d initially expect.
In addition, whether it’s Napoleon’s timid brother Kip, his weird nostalgic Uncle Rico, or his friends Pedro and Deb there is a whole cast of equally odd but enjoyable characters that fill out the movie.
In the end, it is a uniquely odd comedy with virtually no plot… But surprisingly, it works.
I give this one a 4 out of 5
