This movie started out
strong, but got ridiculous really quick.
So, the film starts out with a decent bank heist gone wrong
sequence. Nicolas Cage plays Will Montgomery who is a master-thief but he and his
partner Vincent (played by Josh Lucas) get into an argument, resulting in a
botched getaway and Vincent getting shot in the leg. Will is soon caught by FBI
and sent to prison for 8 years. When he finally gets out Vincent, who is still
bitter about failed bank heist, kidnaps Will’s daughter and blackmails him
because he still wants his cut of the money. So, it’s a race against time as Will
only has 12 hours to get his ex-associate the $10 million he’s demanding.
There are a couple of
fun chase sequences through New Orleans and a second bank heist to steal $10million
worth of gold. Unfortunately, it’s Vincent that the brings the movie down a
couple notches. This is a terrible, over-the-top, one dimensional, villain.
Overall, it’s not
great but it is a fun and pretty entertaining movie.
I give this one a 2.5
out of 5.
