Tonight's Movie: Prince Avalanche (2013)

Set in 1988, Alvin (played Paul Rudd) and Lance (played by Emile Hirsch), are road workers repainting the yellow traffic lines down a country highway in a rural area of Texas that was destroyed by a wildfire the year before. The major contrast between the two is that Alvin enjoys the peaceful simplicity of the job and Lance misses life in the city. However, though they are very different and initially dislike each other, by the end of the movie they do form an unlikely friendship.

It’s a simple, low-key kind of movie so it isn’t one that will appeal to everybody, but I enjoyed it. I think there is a good mix of drama and humor, Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch are both solid in the film, and the cinematography is really good.

Overall, I give this one a 4 out of 5.
